The Foamatic
The Foamatic is an automated foam pump dispenser (a non-aerosol apparatus for dispensing liquid material, typically operated by a manual trigger).
Operation
The foam starts out in a reservoir as a liquid soap. After dispenser is triggered, it pushes air into the liquid, creating millions of tiny air bubbles that give it a bubbly white appearance. The resulting foam is comprised mainly of air. So, even though a large quantity is dispensed into the hand, a minimal amount of soap is utilized. Compared to other types of dispensers, foam dispensers do not require vigorous shaking and squeezing, so they are more convenient.
Key features
- The dispenser is hygienic. Since there is no need to touch the appliance, the risk for cross-infection is significantly reduced.
- It makes foam from liquid soap – research suggests that foam soap requires at least 15% less water to rinse. For commercial users like schools, airports, office buildings, and even hospitals, this would correspond to a significant decline in water bills. Since there is less soap wasted, there is less need to buy more. Foam soap allows users to attain the same level of cleanliness with less soap.
- It has a smaller ecological footprint than bar soap and liquid soap. Since the foam is a diluted version of liquid less soap is utilized for each hand wash. Less soap means it’s less likely to block drains and piping systems that would require the use of a harsh detergent.
- Low power consumption. The dispenser works with standard AA batteries and consumes a minimal amount of power, so there’s no need to change batteries all the time.
- Long-life components. The dispenser is made with durable ingredients. You won’t see it falling apart only a few days after it’s installed.
